Can we stop calling Obama liberal now?
The Bush tax cuts are being extended by two years. The super-rich minority will be receiving billions upon billions from the U.S. government. Way to reduce the deficit. This was a deal Democrats struck in order to extend unemployment benefits. I'm fucking pissed. Two million Americans being able to eat should not be a bargaining chip. I'm not sure whether I should complain that this is what America has become, or jump off a bridge after the realization that this is what we always have been.
I'm seeing a lot of internet rage from progressives right now saying that they're not going to vote for Obama in 2012 because of this. Normally this would piss me off, but I'm keeping my fucking mouth shut now. They're right. If you're a liberal, then no one expects you to vote for a moderate. It's as simple as that. I'll still be voting for him, but not because I want him to be President. It's inevitable at this point that every catastrophic policy that Republicans want is going to get passed, so I'm just hoping that voting Democrat might slow them down a little. Democrats owned the government for the last two years, and their greatest achievement is a health care mess that Republicans proposed in the 90s. That's not change. Once I get out on my own and get myself established, I'm going to seriously consider moving to Canada. Fuck this dumbshit country.

Hawaii opens its senate with a Christian prayer. Two activists show up to protest, and are assaulted.
This isn't about whether or not you believe in God. This is about keeping religion and government from interfering with each other. This happened in April.

After Kahle was placed in handcuffs, Kwon and Carrabacan led Kahle to the elevator. As they waited for the elevator, Kwon-kept tightening the handcuffs on Kahle's wrists. When the elevator door opened, it was empty, and Kron and Carrabacan led Kahle inside. Once inside the elevator with the doors closed, while Kahle was standing with his hands behind his back, restrained by handcuffs in an enclosed space, Kwon slammed Kahle, face first, against the side wall of the elevator. Thereafter, both Kwon and Carrabacan took turns assaulting Kahle's back and legs with their shoulds and knees, giving him body blows. Kahle asked Kwon and Carabbacan to stop giving him body blows in the elevator. Kwon and Carabbacan only laughed, verbally taunted Kahle, and continued the body blows.

High school teacher calls creationism "superstitious nonsese." Gets sued.

Let me first get it out of the way that I agree with every single thing the teacher said. Creationism is superstitious nonsense. But this asshole was way out of line. It's okay to talk about religion when you talk about European history. In fact, you are quite simply not talking about European history if you don't also discuss religion. In my art history class last year (which focused on western art), Whalen gave us a disclaimer at the beginning of the class, and said the vast majority of the art we'll be studying is based on Christian ideas. He said the class was not meant to convert anyone, it's simply what these artists painted. The disclaimer was completely unnecessary, because that should all go without saying. Christianity was embedded into that culture. They were experimenting with art for the first time since ancient Rome, and there was nothing else they knew. It's like saying you're not trying to convert people to ancient Egyptian pantheism when you talk about the pyramids.
But this guy went way too far. It's one thing to say "Those in power often manipulated religion into a tool," which I think was the point he was trying to get across, but it's another entirely to say "when you put on your Jesus glasses, you can't see the truth." You're in a fucking high school. Stop. This shit is exactly what Christians feared when prayer was taken out of public schools, and as the subjective strokefest that consisted of the interview demonstrates, this teacher has given them all the ammunition they could ever need. Just listen to that kid, "Teachers all over the place are doing this." Oh really? Then why did you only sue one of them you little snot? People like him are going to generalize the fuck out of public schools now. Thanks, guy.

I conform again
So I guess I'm on Tumblr now? I'm still not exactly sure what this thing is, but from what I can gather, it's sort of like twitter except slightly less gay. This blog will be reserved for pissy rants and cool internet things I find, and tumblr will be nothing but straight up images and videos. Don't worry, the best stuff will stay here, and I'm not getting rid of Sunday Youtube Posts, those are like the foundation of this blog. Music posts might move over there though. Not sure yet. I'll put a link on the right side of the blog under "Sites that are awesome" so it'll be easier to remember to check.

Wikileaks' Julian Asange wanted for 'sex crimes'
My feelings towards Wikileaks have been mixed, but the way they're struggling to bring this guy down is making me root for him more and more.
Rape charges were brought up on Asange a few months ago, but a Swedish prosecutor threw it out because it reeked of such bullshit. So now Interpol wants him again for the exact same thing? Right now? I mean, these charges have absolutely nothing to do with Wikileaks, why did this happen to pop up immediately after the diplomatic cables were released? As he's hinting at a leak concerning a massive bank next year? I'm with Cenk. Show me the evidence.

As much as Megyn Kelly's ignorance makes me want to punch a hole in the wall, this Silverman guy is doing a pretty bad job at making his case too. The purpose of a debate isn't to flex muscles, it's to understand where the other person is coming from and to convince. When you call someone's beliefs a myth to their face, they're just going to shut off and stop listening to what you say. All he did was further reinforced in the viewers minds that atheists are arrogant and angry and hate children. Also, Megyn Kelly totally wants to fuck him.
Media Matters went ahead to do what journalists do and contacted the school district. What do they have to say for themselves?
"There is not a ban on the colors red and green at Heathrow Elementary."
