My political science professor a couple years ago liked to call the media the fourth branch of the U.S. government. I like that analogy, because most Americans will immediately believe anything that's reported, whether that be opinion or otherwise.

Al Jazeera is always really good with its criticism of the media. If you have 22 minutes to spare, they summed up last year's coverage of Barack Obama very well. It's split up into two parts. It basically just calls out all of Fox's bullshit. The Listening Post is also available as a podcast, if you feel like subscribing to a really good news source.
